The ice crystals look a bit like sugar if you view large. I used a circular pol-filter to get the sky darken a bit.

Anfang des Jahres 2011. Nach den Wolkenverhangenen Wochen mit hoher Luftfeuchtigkeit und viel Nebel brach dann endlich die Sonne durch. Das Ergebnis: Schöne Spaziergänge in Bielefeld und ein tiefblauer Himmel (wobei ich mit ‘nem zirkulären Polfilter etwas nachgeholfen habe).

Es gibt zwar Tage, mit größeren Kristallen, aber diese hier sehen aus wie kleine Zuckerkristalle und machen sich da ganz gut an der trockenen Pflanze vom letzten Jahr…

Manchmal sind es die einfachen Dinge, welche die größte Komplexität erschaffen. Ich finde dieses Bild ist ein gutes Beispiel, wie die Natur die Dinge auf kompakte Weise beschreibt. Und es schmeckt :-)

Ok, also neues Jahr und so…

Ich hab’ nun doch meine Meinung geändert, meinen Dickkopf überwunden und mir einen Flickr-pro Account zugelegt. Kopfschmerzen bereitet mir zwar der “locked-in” Effekt aller meiner Fotos dort und die Gefahr, dass M$ oder Google oder – noch schlimmer – Facebook irgendwann Flickr aufkaufen könnte … aber naja damit muss man wohl leben.

Ich hab’s jedenfalls aufgegeben ein eigenes (XML-RPC)-Plugin für Aperture zu schreiben, um Fotos direkt zu veröffentlichen. Der Flickr Support ist einfach sehr verlockend und überall gut integriert.

Mit dieser einfacheren Möglichkeit Bilder hochzuladen verspreche ich auch mal öfters Bilder aus meinem Archiv zu zeigen :-P

So this is my first post of an image with the help of the YAPB plugin. The thumbnail-generation is quite memory intensive (without imagemagic installed on the server). In fact, my 64MB PHP memory limit on my server is hit by an 8 mega-pixel image, which leads to failed thumbnails.

Edit: I removed the YAPB plugin, since it’s lack of XML-RPC support.

Therefore, I am working on a setup to get both benefits, the flickr community and hosting pictures on my own wordpress installation. I decided to use the free flickr account to mirror the images of my blog. Then, I sync the comments from flickr back to wordpress. The following two plugins, should do the trick:

• Live Flickr Comments Importer: When I specify the id of an flickr photo, It will import the comments from flickr to this wordpress blog, as you can see for the image below.
• wp2flickr: Exports pictures posted here to flickr :-)

Here is an image located on my server and the comments from the corresponding mirrored image on flickr are shown below the post:

With this setup, I can post and host my pictures here and still use the comments from flickr. I am still testing the setup but for now it looks quite promising. The comments below this post were originally done at flickr and are shown here, too.

Update: Oh, well, now I have a Flickr pro account, because I was missing a fast way to directly from my photo management software (Aperture).

Sei es der Eisüberzug, der diese frühen Knospen in ein eis-ernes Gefängnis hüllte oder seien es fraktale Flocken, die gleich einen ganzen Wald mit samtigem Weiß überdecken.

Schneewald.

Starker aber gleichmäßiger Wind bei Temperaturen nahe dem Gefrierpunkt und die nächtliche Kälte, habe einige Kristalle horizontal wachsen lassen, als ob sie der Schwerkraft trotzen…

Interessant hier ist, dass das Bild nicht gedreht ist.

Und auch des Menschens Werk wird nicht verschont, so wird so gar ein oller Draht zu einem interessanten Motiv.
