Coffee, my Love

However, what you see here is actually coffee substitute made from barley malt. Tasty, too.

So this is my first post of an image with the help of the YAPB plugin. The thumbnail-generation is quite memory intensive (without imagemagic installed on the server). In fact, my 64MB PHP memory limit on my server is hit by an 8 mega-pixel image, which leads to failed thumbnails.

Edit: I removed the YAPB plugin, since it’s lack of XML-RPC support.

What about flickr?

Flickr is a foto-community website (yes, a “web 2.0″ site, if you like), which is quite popular and many photographers buy the “pro” account to upload full-resolution images and get rid of the 200 photo limit. Some applications have nice flickr-integration, so does Aperture 3 from Apple. But I am not willing to pay an annual fee, nor do I know what happens in the future with flickr and my photos there (Who will buy flickr?…).

Therefore, I am working on a setup to get both benefits, the flickr community and hosting pictures on my own wordpress installation. I decided to use the free flickr account to mirror the images of my blog. Then, I sync the comments from flickr back to wordpress. The following two plugins, should do the trick:

• Live Flickr Comments Importer: When I specify the id of an flickr photo, It will import the comments from flickr to this wordpress blog, as you can see for the image below.
• wp2flickr: Exports pictures posted here to flickr :-)

Here is an image located on my server and the comments from the corresponding mirrored image on flickr are shown below the post:

With this setup, I can post and host my pictures here and still use the comments from flickr. I am still testing the setup but for now it looks quite promising. The comments below this post were originally done at flickr and are shown here, too.

Gefangen im Eiszauber

Trotz der bitteren Kälte in diesem Winter, verzaubert das nasse Element in seinen verschiedenen Aggregatzuständen.

Sei es der Eisüberzug, der diese frühen Knospen in ein eis-ernes Gefängnis hüllte oder seien es fraktale Flocken, die gleich einen ganzen Wald mit samtigem Weiß überdecken.

Schneewald.

Starker aber gleichmäßiger Wind bei Temperaturen nahe dem Gefrierpunkt und die nächtliche Kälte, habe einige Kristalle horizontal wachsen lassen, als ob sie der Schwerkraft trotzen…

Interessant hier ist, dass das Bild nicht gedreht ist.

Und auch des Menschens Werk wird nicht verschont, so wird so gar ein oller Draht zu einem interessanten Motiv.

Sonnentropfen

Tropfen druchflutet vom Licht der tiefstehenden Sonne.

Ganz unscheinbar am Wegesrand und doch ein sehr schönes Motiv, wie ich finde; Abperlende Wassertropfen durchflutet vom Sonnenlicht.

Sonnenuntergang in Blau und Rot. Seiser Alm, Dolomiten, Italien.

Nach einem langen, anstrengenden Wandertag auf einer Terrasse in Süd-Tirol sitzen und diese atemberaubenden Farben bewundern. Die Berge im Hintergrund bilden die Begrenzung des Botzener Tals und erscheinen leicht Lila. Und während die Wolken feuerrot zu glühen scheinen, ist der Himmel darüber – wie in einer horizontalen Zweiteilung – in sattem Blau zu sehen.

Enten dümpeln in Tümpeln, und wie wir sehen, auch auf Seen.

Symmetrie in Pastellfarben. Die morgentliche, friedliche Stille der ruhenden Nebel, die von dem sanften Licht des anbrechenden Tages allmählich verdrängt werden.

Leider war meine Kamera zum Zeitpunkt der Aufnahme noch ein eher minderwertiges Fabrikat und daher ist die Schärfe nicht sehr gut. Leider ist auch recht starkes Farbrauschen zu beobachten. Trotzdem eines meiner Lieblingsbilder.

Hey, Du! – Und jetzt auch noch Apple.

Irgendwie verstört es mich, wenn ich auf asymmetrischen, Massen-Kommunikationskanälen, wie z.B. Radiosendungen oder auf Webseiten, mit dem “Du” angesprochen werde, wo wir – also ich und du und du und du… – doch genau wissen, dass die Botschaft ebenso für viele andere Nutzer bestimmt ist: also “ihr”.
